Support services for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) students
Some NCS children may experience a longer period of adaptation in a new environment and may appear to be timid due to difficulties in verbal
communication. Thus, our school had used the government grant solely to enhance support to our NCS students. The grant had been used for
appointing additional staff or procuring services to provide teachers with more manpower support and professional training to develop effective
strategies to help NCS students learn Chinese and raise teachers’ cultural sensitivity so that they would be more sensitive in understanding their
culture and religion when teaching NCS students. Communication with parents of NCS students may also be enhanced.
Support services for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) students includes:
- We provide appropriate support to non-Chinese speaking students to help them learn Chinese and build a multicultural and inclusive environment.
- Purchase teaching materials to help NCS students learn Chinese.
- Promote different types of learning and activities for non-Chinese speaking students and strengthen communication with parents of non-Chinese speaking students.
